July Family Meal Plan + Free Printable Calendar
One of the questions I get asked most often is, “How do you feed a family without feeling overwhelmed every night?”
The answer isn’t a secret recipe—it’s a simple plan.
Every month I sit down with a blank calendar, look at our schedule, and fill in dinners around everything else we have going on. Some nights are busy. Some nights we’re eating with family. Some nights we intentionally plan leftovers.
Having a menu doesn’t mean we follow it perfectly every single day, but it gives us a roadmap that saves time, money, and a lot of stress.
Why I Plan a Month at a Time
Monthly meal planning helps me:
- Spend less time deciding what’s for dinner
- Make fewer grocery trips
- Use ingredients more efficiently
- Plan easy meals on busy nights
- Reduce food waste
- Stay within our grocery budget
The biggest benefit for me personally is simply removing one more daily decision.
My Weekly Meal Themes
One thing that makes planning easy is giving each day a theme instead of starting from scratch every week.
Monday – Breakfast for Dinner
Pancakes, waffles, biscuits and gravy, breakfast burritos, or eggs and bacon, etc.
Tuesday – Taco (or Tater) Tuesday
Mexican favorites or potato-based dinners.
Wednesday – Whatever Wednesday
This is my flex day. It’s where I try new recipes, repeat family favorites, or cook something that doesn’t fit into the other themes.
Thursday – Pasta Night
Anything from spaghetti to lasagna, baked pasta, or creamy noodle dishes.
Friday – Family Dinner at Grandma’s
We usually eat with family— whatever my wonderful mother in law has for us!
Saturday – Dad Cooks
Thomas usually takes over the grill or smoker.
Sunday – Leftovers
One of the easiest ways we reduce food waste. This also works as a flex day if we want to spend extra time in fellowship with friends, this is an easy day to do it!
