Skip the drive-thru and make these easy KFC Famous Bowls at home! Crispy popcorn chicken, creamy mashed potatoes, sweet corn, rich brown gravy, and melted cheddar cheese come together for a quick, family-friendly dinner that’s perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups prepared mashed potatoes (homemade or instant)
  • 2 cups prepared brown gravy(homemade or from a packet)
  • 24 ounces frozen fully cooked popcorn chicken
  • 1 (15-ounce) can whole kernel corn, drained
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic salt
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups freshly shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Instructions

  • Prepare the mashed potatoes according to your favorite homemade recipe or make instant mashed potatoes according to the package directions.
  • Prepare the brown gravy according to your favorite homemade recipe or package directions.
  • Cook the popcorn chicken according to the package directions until hot and crispy. I like using the air fryer for the crispiest results.
  • In a small saucepan, combine the corn, butter, and garlic salt. Cook over medium heat until the butter is melted and the corn is heated through.

To Assemble the bowls:

  • Start by adding the mashed potatoes to however many bowls you’re making.
  • Top each bowl with crispy popcorn chicken, the seasoned corn, shredded cheddar cheese, and prepared brown gravy.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste. (Optional)
  • Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • For the best homemade version, use my Creamy Mashed Potatoes and Homemade Brown Gravy recipes.
  • Freshly shredded cheddar cheese melts much better than pre-shredded cheese.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave until warmed through.
