These hotel-style waffles are crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and made with simple pantry ingredients. An easy, reliable waffle recipe perfect for family breakfasts or weekend mornings.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ TBSP sugar
  • 2 TBSP baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2½ cups milk
  • ¾ cup vegetable oil
  • ¾-1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat waffle iron to high heat.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt & cinnamon (if using).
  3. In a larger bowl, mix the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
  4. Mix your dry ingredients into your wet ingredients. (This helps reduce clumping)
  5. Whisk just until combined. Do not overmix.
  6. If using additional mix-ins, fold those in now.
  7. Lightly grease waffle iron if needed.
  8. Pour batter into waffle iron and cook until golden brown and crisp.
  9. Serve warm with butter, peanut butter, honey, syrup, or other desired toppings.

Notes

A few small lumps in the batter are okay.

Overmixing will result in dense waffles.

Batter can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.

Optional add ins:

  • Chocolate chips
  • Blueberries
  • Cut up Strawberries
  • Cinnamon
  • Mini chocolate chips
