This easy homemade taco seasoning tastes just like a store-bought packet — savory, bold, and perfectly balanced. Made with pantry spices, it’s quick to mix and great for tacos, burrito bowls, soups, and more.

Makes about ¼ cup (equal to roughly 2 store-bought packets)

Ingredients

  • 2 TBSP chili powder
  • 1 TBSP ground cumin
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for mild heat)

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a small bowl or mason jar.
  2. Whisk or shake until fully combined.
  3. Store in an airtight container until ready to use.

Notes

  • How to Use (Just Like a Packet)
  • Use 2–3 TBSP seasoning per 1 lb ground meat
  • Add ⅔ cup water
  • Simmer until thickened, stirring occasionally
