This simple homemade pizza sauce is quick, flavorful, and perfect for pizza night. This sauce skips tomato paste and comes together in minutes, making it an easy option for busy days when you still want homemade flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 (15-oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1½ TBSP dried oregano
  • 1 TBSP Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic salt, (or to taste)
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1½ tsp honey

Instructions

  1. Add the tomato sauce to a medium mixing bowl.
  2. Sprinkle in the oregano, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, garlic salt, black pepper, and honey.
  3. Stir until the sauce is smooth and fully combined.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Use immediately or store for later.

Notes

  • For best results, spread a thin layer over pizza dough to avoid a soggy crust.
  • If you prefer a slightly sweeter sauce, increase the honey to 2 teaspoons.
  • For a lighter, smoother sauce, you can pulse the sauce in a food processor or blender for 10–15 seconds to incorporate a little air.
  • Great for homemade pizza, calzones, or flatbreads.

Storage

  • Refrigerator: Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

  • Freezer: Freeze in small portions for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before using.

Yield

Enough sauce for 2–4 (12-inch) pizzas, depending on how heavily you sauce them.
