This homemade fajita seasoning blend is bold, smoky, and perfectly balanced for chicken, steak, shrimp, or vegetables. Made with simple pantry spices, it’s an easy kitchen staple that adds classic Tex-Mex flavor to fajitas, tacos, and skillet meals.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon garlic salt (swap for 1/2 garlic powder, 1/2 garlic salt if you like a saltier blend!)
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Add all spices to a small mixing bowl.
  2. Whisk together until evenly combined.
  3. Transfer the seasoning to an airtight spice jar or container.
  4. Store in a cool, dry pantry until ready to use.

Notes

  • Use 1–2 tablespoons seasoning per pound of meat for fajitas.

  • Toss chicken, steak, shrimp, or vegetables with a little oil and the seasoning before cooking.

  • This blend also works well for taco meat, roasted vegetables, or grilled chicken.
