About
Our Grateful Kitchen

Amber from Our Grateful Kitchen stands in the kitchen smiling warmly with arms folded holding a golden whisk and wearing a black cooking apron that says "Mom"

Hi, I’m Amber Price, and I’m so glad you’re here! My husband, Thomas, and I are actively raising our five children in small-town, rural America, where we love Midwest living and the slower, quieter lifestyle that comes with it. Our Christian faith is the center of our lives, and it’s my hope that those values shine through every part of this space.

Our Grateful Kitchen was inspired on New Year’s Eve 2025, as I stood in the kitchen doing one of the things I enjoy most — making good food for a family gathering. In that moment, I thought, “I love doing this so much… I wonder if I could encourage others to love it too.”

As I was praising God for the five sets of little hands eager to help, I remembered back to a time when I was slower to indulge their requests to join.

“It will take more time.”
“The mess will be great.”
“Our kitchen is small — it’ll be so tight in here.”

Those thoughts used to come to mind when my kids asked to help. And while these things are often true, I’ve come to realize they aren’t bad things.

I decided that my children remembering being included, trusted, and cherished as capable members of our family mattered far more than any inconvenience to my schedule. Once I learned to say yes, my perspective began to change. The things I once considered negatives became reasons for gratitude:

“It will take more time” — Praise God for extra moments together.
“The mess will be great” — look how much joy we’re sharing!
“It’ll be tight in here” — thank You Lord for the closeness we get to experience.

Over time, I also began to see the kitchen as more than a place to feed my own family. It became a place of hospitality and service — where meals could be made for friends welcoming a new baby, families returning home from a hospital stay, or loved ones walking through a particularly hard season. Food has a quiet way of saying “you are seen,” “you are loved,” and “you don’t have to do this alone.” And including our kids in that, is a real tangible way for them to learn to serve in the quiet moments. My prayer is that this blog encourages you not only to cook well, but also generously.

Cooking Background

I’ve always enjoyed cooking. In my senior year of high school, I created my own cookbook as a graphic design class project — and I still use it to this day! However, it wasn’t until I married my high school sweetheart and two years later welcomed our first child, that my love for the kitchen really grew. We didn’t have much, but we always had good meals.

I love making “WOW”  recipes — food that shines, comforts, and brings people together. The recipes you’ll find here are fresh, homey, family-friendly, and sometimes just adventurous enough to stretch your comfort zone, but stick with me — it’ll be worth it. Most importantly, these recipes are reliable and delicious. Don’t be surprised when people start asking you for them!

You can explore our family-friendly recipes, browse seasonal favorites, or find inspiration through our monthly menu plans designed to make mealtime simpler.

Our Grateful Kitchen is about more than good food — it’s about gathering in gratitude, one meal at a time.
